Tip# 11 The Bangs and The Part 

We’ve already touched on trying a new hairstyle to look younger (Tip #5). That may include changing your bangs or how you part your hair. Have you always had a center part or side part? Are you bangs or no bangs? Try changing it up to get a more youthful look. 

If you do want to do a center part, it’s best to make it a little off center. If you want to try a side part, don’t make it so extreme. Try doing an angle part. This is what I have found I like best for me. Also my part doesn’t go all the way across the top of my head. 

For me, I tried to add them back in after not having them for a while and it was a no go. Luckily my hair grew fast! There a couple of ways to go to. The blunt straight across cut, and the side swept look the can go shorter or longer. Either way make sure you get them cut a little longer than you think if your hair is at when cutting. They will shrink up when dry. And bangs should hit you right at the eyebrow. And they should also have some slight layering and be a little longer on the sides. Those of you with curly hair may want to avoid the bangs,  unless you are going to straighten it daily.

Tip# 10 Stand Tall Look Younger 

Did your parents tell you to stand up straight out sit up straight when you were young? Well, it will definitely be worth doing now to help you look younger and lighter. Standing up straight will also give the appearance of being confident and healthy (And hopefully your will feel that way too!) Good posture when sitting and standing will help with many things in relation to your health which will help you feel younger as well. When you are sitting or standing up straight you will help decrease muscle and joint pain in legs, back and neck, headaches, depression, fatigue, and help improve breathing, acid reflux, and even hormone levels. That’s pretty amazing! Mom/dad you were right! 

Here’s a simple test to check your posture. Stand against a wall with your head, shoulder blades, bottom touching the wall. See if you can fit your hand between the wall and your lower back. If there is a lot of room or not enough, adjust your posture so that your hand just fits. This is the posture you should have. Practice this posture and work to make it your new normal. You also want to check your posture when sitting at your workspace as well. Is the chair and your computer at the right level? When you get in the car in the morning, check your posture. Adjust your rear view mirror up to you. Don’t slouch to the mirror’s level. 

The more we work on posture now, will keep it us from getting a humpback in the future. That will definitely show age. Let’s avoid that. You may need to find some exercises to stretch your chest and shoulder muscles. So shoulders back and stand up straight for healthier, younger looking you!

Yep! We’re gonna talk about the bras, panties, and shapewear. It’s the foundation of great style. Are you wearing the right size and style? Have you ever had a proper bra fitting? You should do that every few years, and replace bras your wear often about every 6-8 months. Wear your new bra on the loosest hook and it’s time to get a new one when you are using the the tightest hooks. What kind of bra? Well that’s personal preference. But the prettiest and most colorful may not give you the best support. Having a good strap, a little lift, and maybe some light padding if needed, will keep ‘the girls’ to looking their best. That’s where a professional bra fitting comes in. So see where you can get that done near you. 

Shapewear has come a long way from the girdles of the past. They are more comfortable and breathable. Coming in many forms- tank, cami, shorts, slips, and bodysuit- they can fit under most outfits. These can definitely make you look 10 pounds lighter and smooth out some trouble areas. It took me a couple of tries before I found one that I liked. 

Now as far as the ever troubling panty line, there are some out there with fewer seams or if your comfortable with it, try a thong. Investing in good quality undergarments is going to make everything you wear look better. Which one is first on your list to update? Comment below.

Red, green, or black grapes- which are your favorite? My favorite are the green ones. Grapes are quite tasty and they are also great for your skin, eyes, and hair. They are full of vitamins, antioxidants and other nutrients that will help your skin maintain vibrant, firm, glowing and youthful skin. You can get those nutrients the traditional way – eating them- or try using the pulp, skin and juices on your skin and hair. I found several recipes in my quick search. Do a search and pick your favorite to try. Be sure to do a combination of eating and applying grapes so you get all the benefits inside and out.

We’ve heard it many times- drink more water, it’s good for you. It really is great for you, inside and out. Let’s chat today about what it does for your skin. Upping your water intake will help keep your skin hydrated, which leads to softer, toned, firm and supple skin- no botox needed. If you are using a lot of lotion, you may want to increase your water intake.

You should drink about half your body weight in ounces of water. If that sounds too daunting, just increase it a little each day till you reach your goal. Try adding a slice of citrus to give it a little flavor, keep it cold, use a straw, at a timer to reminder you, drink water first at mealtimes, and/or keep a water bottle or cup nearby at all time. Tip# 6 Wear a PeekaBoo Sleeve- Show a Little Shoulder.

This peekaboo shoulder is a big trend right now. I think it is a great way to show a little skin and still be modest while covering some parts of our arms we maybe don’t want to show. It may or may not be appropriate for your work setting, especially depending on how much skin is exposed and the style of shirt. For example, a spaghetti strap with a peekaboo shoulder (or cold shoulder as it is sometimes called), where bra straps are showing or the undergarmet isn’t appropriate, or one that has lace or mesh, may not be appropriate for an office setting. It is great to wear for a date night or girl’s night out or other social event. They come in many different fabrics and sleeve lengths. I’m looking for a short sleeve one myself. I’m pretty picky when it comes to shirts (my husband says that is an understatement! Lol). I hope I find one before the trend runs it’s course! What do you think of this trend? Comment below.

Tip#5 Hairstyle- Time For A Change?

Do you still have the same hairstyle you had 10 years ago? The right change in your hairstyle can instantly make you look 10 years younger. You don’t have to go to a short hair cut. Consider the shape of your face when going for a new hairstyle. Not all cuts look good on all face shapes. You will definitely want to consult with your hair stylist. There are also apps that you can download to ‘try on’ a new hairstyle. Don’t you love technology?! I have gone to an angled bob cut with it stacked in the back. I have discovered that bangs don’t look good on me and I can’t go shorter in the front with my face shape. 

You also want to make sure your hair is healthy. If you are seeing split ends, it’s time for a cut. As you age, your hair may need additional products to help it look healthy and to manage frizzy hair- maybe a thermal protectant or hair mask like we discussed on day 2 with the avocado hair mask! I have noticed a significant change in my hair texture in the list few months. Be careful to when  pulling hair back into a ponytail;,if pulled too tightly it may accentuate any fine lines of wrinkles. A low, side ponytail gives a softer more flattering look.  Anther thing to consider is volume/height of your hair. You don’t want to go to either extreme of too high or to flat of hair. This would, again, be a great thing to discuss with your stylist to find out what you should be doing. I like a little ‘bump’ of volume on the top, back of my head, whereas, back in the 80’s/90’s, I wanted high bangs. What have you found to be the best cut for you? Comment below.
