Hairstyle- Time For A Change

50 days of Style, Beauty and Health Tips

Tip#5 Hairstyle- Time For A Change?

Do you still have the same hairstyle you had 10 years ago? The right change in your hairstyle can instantly make you look 10 years younger. You don’t have to go to a short hair cut. Consider the shape of your face when going for a new hairstyle. Not all cuts look good on all face shapes. You will definitely want to consult with your hair stylist. There are also apps that you can download to ‘try on’ a new hairstyle. Don’t you love technology?! I have gone to an angled bob cut with it stacked in the back. I have discovered that bangs don’t look good on me and I can’t go shorter in the front with my face shape.

You also want to make sure your hair is healthy. If you are seeing split ends, it’s time for a cut. As you age, your hair may need additional products to help it look healthy and to manage frizzy hair- maybe a thermal protectant or hair mask like we discussed on day 2 with the avocado hair mask! I have noticed a significant change in my hair texture in the list few months. Be careful to when  pulling hair back into a ponytail;,if pulled too tightly it may accentuate any fine lines of wrinkles. A low, side ponytail gives a softer more flattering look.  Anther thing to consider is volume/height of your hair. You don’t want to go to either extreme of too high or to flat of hair. This would, again, be a great thing to discuss with your stylist to find out what you should be doing. I like a little ‘bump’ of volume on the top, back of my head, whereas, back in the 80’s/90’s, I wanted high bangs. What have you found to be the best cut for you? Comment below.

Eyeliner- Switch it Up- Try a Softer Color.

50 days of Style, Beauty and Health Tips

Tip#4 Switch your Eyeliner- Try a softer color.

The most popular color for eyeliner is black. As you age, it can be making you look older! We don’t want that! Try switching to brown. It will give a softer look. I personally switched from black to purple years ago. It also gives a softer look. You can also change up the thickness of your line and if you only do top or bottom, you may want to try doing both. I get compliments on my eyes a lot, so it must be working!

Another thing to do to help look younger, or to slow the aging process, is to stop using a pencil eyeliner. It pulls on your delicate eye skin. Use a cream, gel or liquid liner. Also use shorter strokes to get that even straight line.

If you are still rockin the black liner, that’s awesome! Keep it up for as long as you can! So what color line do you wear or want to switch to? Comment below!

Tip#3 All the Ankle Boots! They are so on Trend!

Raise your hand if you have a pair of ankle boots!🙋‍♀️ They are so popular right now! So many styles and colors to choose from.  And they will definitely give you that youthful vibe. You can decide from a variety of heel styles – chunky, stilletto, high, low, and wedge. Open and closed toe and heel. Add a little flair with fringe, buckle, or a bow.

Some no -no’s to style with ankle boots are cropped pants and tights, mid length skirts with bare legs, pencil skirts, shorts, and capris.

Ankle boots go great with any style of pant leg. Most often you see them with the skinny jeans or leggings, but they also go well with straight, boot cut, and even wide pants. You can also wear them with maxi dresses and long skirts. You can even wear them with shorter skirts and shorts that are above the knee!

Tell me about your ankle boots!!

50 days of Style, Beauty and Health Tips.
Tip #1. Beauty sleep – It’s for Real!
I’m excited to start this 50 days of Style and health tips to celebrate my 50th! I’m going to start it off with something something that is fairly easy to do but hard to get!! I love a good night’s sleep and even a great nap on a Sunday afternoon!! Getting enough sleep can actually help you to look younger- hence the term ‘Beauty Sleep’!
When was the last time you got a good 6-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep and woke up naturally – no alarms going off, babies crying or kids running in to jump on you in bed? For me now, my lack of sleep is due to staying up too late binge watching something on Hulu or Netflix or scrolling through social media! Can you relate to any one or more of these? Well let’s all make a pact together, right here and now, to strive for more sleep (Not that kind of together!)
Let’s not go down the rabbit trail of what lack of sleep can do for your looks and your health- Let’s think positively! Getting a good night’s sleep will help with the production of collagen and growth hormones to repair and renew your skin. Hydration of the skin also happens at night as well at gravity working to reduce wrinkles and fine lines – when you sleep in your back! And did you know that these things take place at certain times in the night? I was reading about chronobiology- fascinating! You should check out out!
Let’s look some tips to help you not only get a good night’s sleep but will also help you look younger! You can find info about pressure points, all the creams and essential oils if you you want to do a quick Google search. The following tips, in no particular order, are pretty easy to start today!
1. Sleep on your back. Gravity will help smooth away fine lines and wrinkles.
2. Drink an 8 ounce glad of water before you go to bed to help in the hydration of your skin.
3. Have a regular sleep schedule at least 5 days a week of 6-8 hours.
4. Wash your face and moisturizer before you go to bed. This will aid in the repair and renewing of your skin.
5. Sleep on a silk or satin pillow case. This will help your skin and your hair. Cotton pillows tug and pull on your skin when you move in your sleep.
6. Flip your pillow every night to avoid and dirt, sweat, oils touching your face and wash your pillow case energy 2-3 days or at least once a week.
7. Use a humidifier to help with hydration of your skin.
8. Put lip balm on your lips right before you go to bed to help you wake up with supple and soft lips.
9. Keep it cooler in your bedroom at night. I prefer my room to be at 68 degrees when I also. A cooler room will again help your skin in the hydration process.
10. Also in a dark room or eat am sure mask to make it dark. This will help in production of melatonin to help you sleep better!
These are just a few of the tips to getting your beauty rest. There are more and you can look into specifics on any products. I just wanted to give you a starting point. What 1-3 things can you start today to get your beauty Sleep? Comment below!
